For generations, South Bushwick Church has been a place of faith, hope, healing, and community in Brooklyn.
Following a devastating fire by arson on June 19, 2026, our beloved church sanctuary has been destroyed. While we are grateful that no lives were lost, the loss of our worship space and ministry center has deeply impacted our congregation and neighborhood.
South Bushwick Church has served as more than a building. It has been a home for worship, prayer, youth programs, community outreach, food assistance, pastoral care, and countless life-changing moments.
Today, we are asking for your support as we begin the long journey of recovery, rebuilding, and redevelopment of a permanent place of worship and community ministry on Bushwick Avenue.
As we work with architects, engineers, community partners and other professionals, we are evaluating the safest, most financially responsible and most sustainable path forward. This may include restoration or reconstruction of the historic church, or a redevelopment partnership through which a new permanent South Bushwick Church sanctuary and community ministry facility would be constructed as part of a larger project.
Regardless of the final construction approach, our goal remains the same: South Bushwick Church will continue its ministry and seek to establish a permanent worship and community home for generations to come.
Funds raised through this campaign will support the church's fire recovery and rebuilding efforts, including planning, professional services, site preparation, restoration/reconstruction, development of a permanent sanctuary and ministry facility, and related rebuilding expenses.
We are grateful for every person who is helping South Bushwick rise from the ashes. This fire has ignited a fire within us.
Thank you for your prayers, generosity, and support.
With gratitude,
