Christelle Durandy needs immediate post-aneurysm support!
Our dear friend, music comrade, and music & French language teacher Christelle Durandy has had a nearly deadly medical event and needs support from her community!
On Sunday, March 23, Christelle was at a rehearsal in San Francisco singing, playing drums and shekere, and generally being her loving and exuberant self when she suddenly experienced intense neck and head pain. She was rushed to Kaiser hospital, and it was discovered that an aneurysm in her brain had burst. She received immediate surgical care to deal with the burst and, blessedly, miraculously she is relatively okay — in part, no doubt, due to everyone around her taking immediate action. During surgery, a second, dormant aneurysm was discovered, which will need another surgery in about a week’s time.
She is weak, recovering, and preparing for the second surgery at the Kaiser Neurology ICU. She has her physical and mental faculties, which is AMAZING, but she’ll be hospitalized for at least another three weeks and will have quite a road ahead of recovery.
In order to cover medical expenses (including her Kaiser co-pays), aftercare, and the time that she’ll be unable to work, we are hoping to raise $60,000. This will help her be able to focus on healing rather than having the stress of pushing to get back to work.
Thank you community!
