Support Travel for Our Daughter's Surgery
Donation protected
My name is Ashley. My husband and I are trying to raise money to be able to travel a few hours away to be with our daughter while she has a much-needed surgery. She was born with HIE (hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy). She also carries a diagnosis of cerebral palsy. She is a little fighter. Originally, the doctors told us she would only live four months, so we took her home on hospice. Boy, were they wrong! She graduated hospice and is going strong. (She's nearly three!) Don't get us wrong, she has her issues, but she is such a bright, smart little girl.
Next month, she will be going to an academic center to have a much-needed surgery on the lower half of her body to help with the tightness in her muscles. The hope is that with this surgery (and a few more in the future) she will be much more comfortable and allow her to sit in chairs with more ease, tolerate her weekly therapies better, and be able to interact with the world better. Sometimes this surgery is done to help kids with cerebral palsy be able to walk. At this time, it doesn't look like our little girl will be able to walk in the future, but this surgery will help her fit more comfortably in a wheelchair when she needs one!
