Save Chimney Swifts with Spencer
Donation protected
Hi, thank you so much for considering donating! My name is Spencer Phillips and I have been a boy scout for 8 years. I am raising money for my Eagle Scout Project, which is the final step in finishing Boy Scouts. My Eagle Scout Project will be a 12 foot tall "bird house" called a Chimney Swift tower for an almost endangered bird called the Chimney Swift. The reason why the Chimney Swift is almost endangered is because they have no more habitats left, they can't live in trees like normal birds, instead they have to cling to a vertical surface because of their spines. They live in chimneys and hollow dead trees. However since so many old houses and dead trees get knocked down to make room for new things, they have nowhere to live. So this bird house, that resembles a chimney, will give them a new habitat. The reason why I am building it at Murphey Candler Park is because the Chimney Swift eats insects like mosquitoes and other bugs. So it will be beneficent for both the birds and the people of the park!
