Beschermde donatie
Writing this means that it’s finally real, and there’s no more hiding from the truth…
When I relocated to North Carolina, earlier this Fall, I ended up putting all of my costumes, hair, make up, and souvenirs/mementos from the past decade of living in New York City into a storage locker.
I was paying a friend of mine, to take care of my New York City finances, until last week, I got a notice, saying that they were auctioning off my unit. Turns out, the friend had taken the money, and was not paying for the unit.
Freaking out, I tried to get in touch with the storage facility, but found out it was too late, as somebody had already come and paid for it, and to protect their identity, they were unable to give out their contact information, or provide them with mine .
When I tell you, my entire world crashed around me. My entire “Kinky Boots” wardrobe, all of my custom wigs, replicas…. just gone.
I looked around at the few remaining costume pieces I currently have in my possession, and really struggled with “what comes next…”?
Funny enough, I remembered that this platform was built off of being given a second chance. When I thought my life was headed in one direction, another door opened leading to an even better opportunity.
So, I made a promise to myself to make this year one of growth, reconnection, and re-establishing my love for being a musical theatre drag artist.
Over the next few months, I am actively joining the Pageant Circuit, going out for Miss US of A, North Carolina as a Newcomer, to showcase why I do what I do.
This GoFundMe campaign will be used to assist with our rebuild, and hope y’all can help us to continue to grow and shine. ✨
For those that have been there, making sure I haven’t spiraled too hard, thank you so much for your consistent and constant love. Marilyn isn’t Maryland without all of you…
xoxo
