Help a Father’s Battle for Custody and to Protect My Son.

Hi, my name is Robbie, but some know me as OD—and I’m reaching out during one of the hardest chapters of my life.

In January 2023, I suffered a devastating workplace injury that crushed my arm. I lost my job, my income, and eventually, everything I had. WSI delayed payments for months, and as the sole provider, I barely managed to hold on.

Since December, I’ve been couch surfing—taking any work I can find just to stay afloat. I’m currently staying with my girlfriend, but I’m not on the lease, so my living situation is fragile and uncertain.

But through all of this, my biggest concern isn’t myself—it’s my son.

He’s living in a home where domestic violence is taking place. I’ve done everything I can to protect him. I’ve pleaded with his mother to remove him from the situation, but nothing has changed. CPS has been involved multiple times, but sadly, they have yet to act in a way that truly protects him. There’s an open OCS case right now, which means I can’t access legal aid until it’s closed—and time is running out.

Worse, I’m not even allowed to voice my concerns without being met with threats that I’ll never see him again. I’m watching my son grow up in a home where he’s being exposed to trauma, and I feel powerless to stop it.

I’m doing everything I can to rebuild my stability. I’ve taken on remote work, applied to countless jobs, and I’m pushing every day to reestablish myself. But without legal representation, I won’t be able to fight for custody—or protect my son from what he’s living through
