For nearly 30 years, Todd Hand has dedicated his life to serving others as a member of the United States Park Police. Now, after suffering significant traumatic injuries in the line of duty, Todd and his family are facing a long and difficult road to recovery.
Todd was injured while responding to a dignitary protection mission. His injuries are serious and will require extensive treatment, rehabilitation, and a prolonged recovery.
Throughout his career, Todd has been much more than a police officer. For approximately 25 years, he has served as a motor officer—a role that has allowed him to combine his love of riding with his commitment to helping and honoring others.
Todd has organized and participated in countless escorts and motorcade missions, including those supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Honor Flights for our nation’s veterans, and Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.). These missions have always meant far more to Todd than simply doing his job. They gave him an opportunity to use his position to make an important moment a little more meaningful for someone else.
For several years, Todd also served as the U.S. Park Police Motor Unit coordinator for National Police Week, helping bring together and honor law enforcement officers, survivors, and families from across the country. Of all the events surrounding Police Week, the breakfast was always one of his favorites—not because of the event itself, but because of the people and relationships behind it.
Those who know Todd know that giving is simply part of who he is. He is the person who shows up. He gives his time, his energy, and his support without expecting anything in return. Whether helping a fellow officer, honoring a fallen officer’s family, supporting a veteran, or making a child’s wish a little more special, Todd has spent decades taking care of other people.
As Todd approaches what would mark his 30th year of service, he now finds himself in the unfamiliar position of needing others to help take care of him.
His recovery will not be quick or easy. The extent of his injuries means that Todd and his family are facing a prolonged period of medical care and rehabilitation, along with the uncertainty and challenges that accompany a serious line-of-duty injury.
For nearly three decades, Todd has answered the call when others needed him. Now it is our opportunity to show up for Todd.
Funds raised through this GoFundMe will help Todd and his family navigate the months ahead and allow them to focus on what matters most—his healing and recovery.
Any contribution, no matter the amount, is deeply appreciated. If you are unable to donate, sharing Todd’s story is another meaningful way to support him and his family.
Thank you.
